A once in a lifetime concert event as legendary bandleader Peter Appleyard is joined by three of Canada’s top female jazz singers - Elizabeth Shepherd, Jackie Richardson, and Diana Panton performing songs from Peter’s new Sophisticated Ladies album along with other classic jazz standards. With the all-star Canadian band – John Sherwood on piano, Reg Schwager on guitar, Neil Swainson on bass, Terry Clarke on drums, and Peter Appleyard on vibes, this one night only concert - with this stellar cast of performers - will never be repeated.
With a career spanning close to 70 years, Peter Appleyard is a Canadian jazz legend. As one of the most sought after percussionists in jazz, Peter has toured the world with Benny Goodman’s world class band and shared stages with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson and Mel Tormé. An Officer of the Order of Canada and soon to be Oscar Peterson Lifetime Achievement honoree at the Montreal Jazz Festival (2012), Peter’s talent has left an impressive legacy on the international jazz community. His most recent release – The Lost 1974 Sessions – is currently #1 on the Earshot Canadian Jazz Radio chart, and has received critical acclaim from Jazz reviewers around the world.
