LOBBY SHOWCASES 2016 Artists Submissions

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre - Community Engagement

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is now accepting submissions for its Lobby Showcase initiative to take place during the professional presenting Season, starting in the fall of 2016.

As part of the Community Engagement initiative, The Centre is looking for local emerging talent in Burlington and surrounding areas to showcase prior to a selection of shows in our Main Theatre throughout the 2016/2017 Professional Presenting Season. The Centre's goal is to provide these local acts with greater exposure - to introduce these artists to our patrons, and to a wider audience - encouraging local artists who are on their way to becoming better known in the community.

These showcases are to be 20 to 30 minutes in length and will complement the show in Main Theatre (e.g. Lobby dance, if Main Theatre featured show is modern dance or ballet, or Lobby singer/songwriters/instrumentalists/bands if the Main Theatre featured show is a musician, a band or a singer).

There is an honorarium for the Lobby Showcases and, in addition, the artists will get an opportunity to market their brand at that time, while reaching a new audience. The artists may also be added to the City of Burlington’s Artists database, with their permission.

The selected performers will get one of only 8 Lobby Showcase spots available throughout the 16/17 Presenting Season and they, as well as others selected, may also get a chance to be featured in other events throughout the year.

We are looking for singer/songwriters, dancers, singers (pop, jazz, blues, folk, musical theatre, classical), bands or combos, instrumentalists and soloists (classical, jazz, etc.), performance art, comedy, etc.

Please submit the following by email to: BPACsubmissions@burlington.ca with Lobby Showcase in the Subject line!

Please include photos, a short biography and background information, a description of the act or performer, any links to YouTube videos if available, and, of course, contact information.

Deadline for submissions is September 23rd, 2016.

There are limited spots available so only the acts or artists selected will be contacted.
