Opening Week Festivities Celebrates Canadian Contemporary Dance
BURLINGTON, Ont. – The official Opening Week line-up includes In Paradisum, a masterpiece of Canadian choreography and contemporary dance by Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie on Tuesday, November 29.
“This magnificent piece is a tour de force of Canadian contemporary dance,” said Heatherington. “From the development of the original choreography and score to the talent and passion of the dancers, In Paradisum represents the very best of Canadian dance today.”

Choreographed by the CLCs resident choreographer, James Kudelka, and set to music by the late Canadian composer, Michael J. Baker, In Paradisum is dedicated to the memory of both Baker’s and Kudelka’a mothers and focuses on the dignity of death and the attitudes people assume when they attempt to cope with dying.
“This piece illuminates a most heart wrenching and poignant struggle – an ultimately human struggle – that asks what it means to be human,” said Heatherington. “And each audience member may receive their own answer.”
Led by husband and wife team, Bill Coleman and Laurence Lemieux, Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie (CLC) is recognized as one of the most dynamic forces in Canadian dance. The company’s repertoire defines contemporary dance with work that is eclectic, daring and technically sophisticated.
